What we are looking for

The opportunity is within our Dublin Pension Management Consulting team. We are seeking a skilled Pension Management Consultant to act as Governance Consultant and Scheme Secretary to large Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes in Ireland.

In this role, you will be a central figure in driving the ongoing success of the scheme, ensuring that the trustee work is delivered effectively. You will collaborate closely with experienced trustee boards, building strong, trusted relationships and ensuring that decisions are implemented effectively.

Your role will involve taking ownership of key actions, working with service providers and advisers to ensure high-quality work is delivered on time, and leading projects that help maintain the scheme’s governance standards.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of an intensely client-focused environment, where you will be an essential partner to both trustees and senior professionals. You will be expected to influence and manage key stakeholders to deliver results in line with trustee expectations

Key responsibilities

  • Drive the scheme forward: You will be the driving force, ensuring the execution of the trustees’ strategy. You will take the initiative to ensure the smooth running of the scheme, initiating and managing projects, and act as the key liaison between the trustee board, service providers, and advisers.
  • Foster Trusted Relationships: You will build and maintain a close relationship with the trustee board. You will become their trusted partner who makes things happen. Your ability to motivate and support the board will be a key driver of success for the scheme. You will be the “go-to” person for everything related to the scheme’s operation, ensuring alignment and high performance.
  • Manage Service Providers and Advisers: You will ensure that advisers and service providers deliver high-quality value-add work on time and in line with trustee requirements. You'll hold them accountable, challenge them when necessary, and ensure they’re meeting the high standards expected by the trustee board.
  • Collaborate with Senior Professionals: You will work alongside a talented and motivated team of senior consultants and analysts, sharing insights, solving complex challenges, and collectively driving client success. Collaboration is key to making sure that the highest level of service is delivered at every stage of the process.
  • Manage and Develop Talent: Help nurture and mentor junior colleagues, fostering their professional development and giving them the tools and feedback they need to succeed. You will be part of our culture of excellence, where team members are supported and encouraged to grow.
  • Drive Business Development: You will be involved in new business initiatives. Whether contributing to pitches, supporting marketing events, or helping to expand the range of services offered, you’ll play an active role in our continued success and growth.
  • Contribute to Commercial Management: You’ll also be responsible for ensuring accurate billing, managing projects within budget, and helping to expand the scope of services offered to clients. Leverage the full range of LCP’s services (pensions actuarial, risk, governance, consultancy, etc.) to create comprehensive, value-driven solutions for clients

The qualities that we look for in our consultants

  • Pension Expertise: In-depth knowledge of pension governance, regulatory frameworks, and DB/DC schemes. You will be expected to provide strategic support on complex issues and help trustees make informed decisions that shape the direction of the scheme.
  • Leadership and Influence: A natural leader who excels at building and nurturing relationships. You’ll need the ability to influence, ensuring that everyone is aligned and delivering on time, with a focus on high-quality results.
  • Project Management Mastery: Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to drive projects forward, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands. You’ll be someone who makes sure that no detail is overlooked, and that everything is delivered to the highest standard.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Clear, concise, and persuasive writing and communication abilities. Your communications will be highly influential, helping clients and stakeholders make key decisions and stay informed.
  • Client Relationship Management: Experience in managing relationships, with a focus on maintaining trust and delivering value. Your role will be critical in managing and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Qualifications: A relevant degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent experience, with a professional qualification such as QFA, FLIA, or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience is required. Evidence of good English and maths, eg via Leaving Cert results.
